When should I schedule a sick visit?
You should schedule a sick visit if you have sudden or unusual symptoms that you can’t treat at home, such as high fever, sore throat, ear pain, vomiting, abdominal pain, urinary tract infection, and upper respiratory infection.
Dr. Levatino also recommends scheduling a sick visit if you’re treating a cold, flu, or another type of infection, but your symptoms worsen or last longer than 10 days. If you’re not sure whether you need medical attention, call the office of Jessica Levatino, MD, to discuss your options.
What happens during a sick visit?
During your sick visit appointment, Dr. Levatino reviews your symptoms and their severity. She performs a physical exam, and can if necessary order additional testing to confirm conditions like the flu or strep throat. Once Dr. Levatino confirms your diagnosis, she customizes a treatment plan to help you feel better.
For instance, she may prescribe antibiotics to clear a bacterial infection in your ear or urinary tract. Viruses aren’t treatable with antibiotics, so Dr. Levatino can recommend home treatments to ease your symptoms until the virus goes away on its own.
If you have an injury or need additional care for a chronic health condition, Dr. Levatino can prescribe medications or recommend lifestyle changes or Physical therapy to relieve your pain. She may also refer you to a specialist for more diagnostic testing and treatment.
If you or your adolescent children aren’t feeling well, don’t put off a medical evaluation. You can request a sick visit by calling the office of Jessica Levatino, MD, today or by using the online booking feature to schedule an appointment.
